Detroit’s Eastern Market

"You know, Detroit gets a bad rap, sure we got crime, blight, some political corruption, but what big city doesn’t. What make’s a city is the people that live there, and there is really no better place to see the people of Detroit then to spend a Saturday at Detroit’s Eastern Market, Michigan’s largest farmer’s market. People of all sorts shop side by side in the open air stalls or wander thought many specialty shops dragging their carts, bags and kids, Buskers work the corners for change. It is almost like spending a day at a carnival.

Howes Lake Wildfire, 3 months later.

" Three month after the Howes Lake Wildfire burned though 817 acre of Crawford and Kalkaska County, Michigan, Ferns appear to be the first thing growing back in this burned out landscape. The ground baked by the fire, still crunched under your feet as you walk through the woods.
I know that compared to some parts of the county a 817 acre fire may not seem like a lot, but in Michigan, a fire this large is rare.
It is believed that fire was started by a lighting strike.
